Physical Education  

 

 

The Physical Education program consists of sequential programs in the following areas:  
  • Swimming
  • Gymnastics
  • Ball skills
  • Athletics
  • The  yearly overview also includes dance, game skills, camping activities and fitness.
  • All children in years 1 to 7 have a weekly physical education lesson with a Physical Education Specialist. 
  • Each child in years 5 to 7 has a one hour sports lesson each week.
  • Each child in years 3 & 4 has a one hour games skill lesson each week.
  • Sports are designed to give maximum participation, sportsmanship and skill development but still give children a chance to experience competition. The children in years 5 to 7 take part in a camping program that includes activities such as orienteering, canoeing, archery, group activities, ropes courses...

  • The school has a proud history of Zone, Regional and State representation in many competitive sports including Athletics, Cross Country, Swimming, Cricket, Softball, Soccer and Netball.

  • Each year Gatton holds a Cricket & Softball Carnival in March, a Swimming Carnival in April, a Soccer & Netball Carnival in May a Cross Country in March and two Athletics Carnivals in August.
  • Each semester the children's performance through the sequential programs is reported to the parents.  
  • Level certificates are awarded in Swimming, and Gymnastics. 

 

 For the Carnival Organizer:

A number of computer programs have been developed by the Phys Ed for use in organizing and running swimming, athletics and gymnastics carnivals.
